Our mission:
OPEN LIBRARY adopts the following mission statement:
The mission of the library programme is to promote literary and cultural awareness among its users: students, parents and staff.
This mission is accomplished:
- By providing intellectual and physical access to materials in all formats.
- By providing instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in finding, reading, viewing, and using information and ideas.
The school’s main language of instruction is English with classes in Spanish and Catalan (required by the local Authority) integrated in our programme.
Other languages such as German, Chinese and French are available as part of the Secondary program.
Our aim is:
- To integrate the student into diversity.
- To give the opportunity to learn other languages.
- To be aware of other cultures.
All languages and cultures are given equal respect.
- copy and electronically-based resources for consultation that reinforce and develop the syllabus.
- By working with staff members to design learning strategies and develop a collection to meet the needs of students.
In order to attain these objectives successfully, OPEN LIBRARY will offer the following services:
- General reference service.
- Lending library service.
- Photocopy service.
- Block loans to classes as requested by teachers.
- TV, video, DVD and multi-media services..
The library service is also open after school hours and during the summer holiday.
